At Art&Joy Creative Studio in Portimão, both children and adults have the opportunity to explore their creativity through a variety of activities such as drawing, painting, and ceramics.
This new space in Portimão is an invitation to anyone who wants to discover or rediscover their artistic talents, or even dive deeper into their passion for the arts. At Art&Joy, you can take part in ceramics, sculpture, drawing, painting, and other crafts, all guided by a team of professionals passionate about what they do. Although this is a recent project, the studio has already impacted many lives and promises to inspire even more.
Whether in individual lessons or group workshops, everyone can choose the format that best suits their pace and create unforgettable memories with their loved ones. Here, there are no age limits! The youngest student started at just two years old, and the oldest is seventy, both sharing the same dedication and enthusiasm. The diversity goes beyond just age: the classes are attended by students of various nationalities, including Ukrainians, Russians, English, French, and, of course, Portuguese. The languages spoken may vary, but in art, we all speak the same language. As the studio’s founder, Svetlana Dekhtyareva, affectionately known as Lana, says: "In art, we can communicate with everyone.
Lana believes that the best way to learn is through practice. She demonstrates techniques and then allows her students to freely explore their ideas and imagination. After moving to Portugal in November 2023, Lana felt the absence of a space where creativity could flow without barriers. That’s when she decided to create Art&Joy, a place where people can learn, relax, and even enjoy board games.
What began as a personal space for Lana to draw and paint soon transformed into something bigger when she met wonderful people to share her passion for art. The studio already offers a variety of activities but plans to expand into new areas soon, such as robotics, knitting, glass mosaics, art history, and music.
Lana's goal is clear: to inspire people, bring them peace, and offer a space where they can relax, socialize, and, above all, create freely. In a warm and welcoming environment, students not only learn artistic skills but also personal ones, such as patience, organization, respect, and teamwork. Originally from Nikopol, Ukraine, Lana lived and studied in Moscow before moving to the Czech Republic, where she graduated in Fashion Technology. After 10 years living in Prague, she decided it was time for a new adventure. Along with her husband, an IT specialist, Lana chose Portimão for its beauty and welcoming climate, a fond memory from a holiday she took in the city in 2022.
With a natural love for the arts and a passion for teaching, Lana found the perfect combination at Art&Joy. Here, children can experiment with materials and techniques they wouldn’t normally have access to in schools, and each class is a blend of fun and learning. Lana also uses the painting sessions to introduce students to famous artists and their styles, always accompanied by classical music, creating an even richer experience.
At Art&Joy Creative Studio, anyone can be an artist. The studio is a space of joy, lightness, creativity, and friendship, where ideas come to life, just a few meters from the beach. ✨
